Our client is a leading Engineering and Construction main contracting company, delivering design-and-build projects throughout the UK across various industry sectors. Due to growth within their Energy business, they are seeking a Design Manager to oversee Battery Energy Storage schemes nationwide. This role offers an opportunity to be part of a developing business unit and contribute to their long-term growth strategy.

Responsibilities:

1. Lead a team delivering a growing portfolio of Battery Energy Storage System projects, integrating the core design team with wider business support teams.
2. Be part of the Engineering Senior Management Team.
3. Ensure the success of engineering service delivery.
4. Develop strong relationships with clients to exceed their expectations, ensuring project delivery for their customers and the environment.
5. Plan, execute, monitor, and control engineering outputs concerning scope, time, cost, quality, resources, communications, risk, and stakeholders.
6. Lead delivery and assurance processes to ensure compliance with the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations (2015), fulfilling roles as Principal Designer and Designer.
7. Oversee performance management, mentoring, recognition, learning and development, and corrective actions within the team.
8. Provide technical support to wider teams.

Experience required:

• Previous experience in the Battery Energy Storage industry.
• Degree in engineering or science (or equivalent).
• Chartered Engineer status (or equivalent).
• Experience managing and developing a diverse, multidisciplinary team.
• Design experience at all voltage levels from LV to 400kV systems.

Package on offer:

• Salary range £90,000 - £100,000.
• Car allowance of circa £9,000 or a company car.
• Company bonus scheme.
• Flexible pension contributions—invest up to 5% of your salary, and the company will contribute an additional 10%.
