The Opportunity: Architect Design Manager – Data Centres Portfolio

We're looking for an experienced Architect Design Manager to play a key role on our mission-critical Data Centres programme, based from our Manchester hub. At Laing O'Rourke, Design Managers are technical leaders—ensuring robust, high-quality design delivery across every phase of the project lifecycle.

What You'll Be Doing:

1. Lead consultant teams to deliver smart, integrated design solutions that meet client needs and optimise value.
2. Champion design quality, buildability, and technical suitability across all stages—from feasibility to handover.
3. Drive collaboration across disciplines using BIM and Digital Engineering tools.
4. Ensure design complies with all contractual, safety, and performance standards.
5. Embed continuous improvement by capturing and sharing knowledge across the Engineering Enterprise.

We're Looking For:

1. A qualified Architect or construction design professional with approx. 5 years' end-to-end design management experience.
2. Proven background across different sectors and procurement routes.
3. Expertise in DfMA, managing consultants, and change control.
4. A leader who's passionate about innovation, quality, and collaboration.
