Job summary

Taylor Woodrow is seeking an experienced Design Manager to lead and coordinate design on major infrastructure projects. In this full-time role, you will manage design resources and ensure timely delivery of compliant and cost-effective solutions.

Ideal candidates will have proven experience in a design role within infrastructure or construction, with strong knowledge of UK design standards and the ability to lead and communicate effectively with stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a Design Manager role within infrastructure or construction.
  • Strong knowledge of UK design standards, CDM Regulations and ISO 9001.
  • Ability to lead design teams and manage complex interfaces.
  • Confident communicator with strong stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience with BIM and collaborative design processes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage permanent works design activities and design subcontract packages.
  • Implement project-specific Design Management Plans in line with ISO 9001 and client requirements.
  • Manage design assurance, change control and technical compliance.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary design inputs and ensure buildability and safety.
  • Promote value engineering, BIM, and Design for Health & Safety.
  • Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations and relevant safety obligations.
  • Support commercial aspects of contractor design, including early warnings and compensation events.
  • Contribute to carbon reduction targets and sustainable design outcomes.

Job description

Taylor Woodrow is seeking an experienced Design Manager to lead and co‑coordinate permanent works design on major infrastructure projects. Reporting to the Project Manager or Senior Design Manager, you’ll manage design resources, oversee subcontracted designers, and ensure compliant, cost‑effective and timely delivery of design solutions.

Duties
  • Lead and manage permanent works design activities and design subcontract packages
  • Implement project-specific Design Management Plans in line with ISO 9001 and client requirements
  • Manage design assurance, change control and technical compliance
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary design inputs and ensure buildability and safety

Contract Type: Permanent

Hours: Full Time - 40 hours - Monday to Friday
