Job summary

DCS Recruitment is seeking an experienced Design Manager to lead permanent works design coordination across major infrastructure projects in Suffolk. You will work with project teams, external designers and consultants to deliver compliant, buildable designs on programme.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in infrastructure or construction, strong knowledge of UK design standards and CDM, and a proactive approach to BIM-enabled design delivery and value engineering.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Design Manager within infrastructure, construction or a similar major projects environment.
• Strong understanding of design management and permanent works.
• Good knowledge of UK design standards, CDM and relevant construction requirements.
• Experience managing design consultants, subcontractors and multidisciplinary design teams.
• Experience with design assurance, technical compliance and change management.
• Good understanding of buildability and construction processes.
• Experience working with BIM and collaborative design processes.
• Commercial awareness, including experience with early warnings and compensation events.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver design activities to programme.

Responsibilities

Design Manager – Suffolk

The Opportunity

We are supporting an established construction and infrastructure business delivering major projects across the UK.

They are looking to appoint an experienced Design Manager to take responsibility for the coordination and delivery of permanent works design, working across project, design, commercial and construction teams.

The role will involve managing design resources and external designers, ensuring design solutions are compliant, practical, cost-effective and delivered in line with project requirements and programme.

Key Responsibilities

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will be an experienced Design Manager who is comfortable taking ownership of design delivery across a complex infrastructure or construction project.

You will be confident coordinating multiple disciplines and external design partners, managing interfaces and ensuring design solutions meet the required technical, commercial, programme, quality and safety standards.

Experience within major infrastructure, complex construction or other highly regulated project environments would be beneficial.
