Job summary

Breakthrough Consulting Limited is seeking a Design Manager for a Kent-based main contractor renowned for BIM excellence. The role may suit a Design Coordinator ready to step up, with a track record on live projects and a passion for delivering high-quality design.

You will join a collaborative team spanning preconstruction and delivery, driving design coordination, spotting opportunities and risks, and ensuring profitable outcomes while maintaining rigorous design records.

Qualifications

• Worked for a main contractor on projects from £5M to £20M.
• Worked on new build & refurbishment projects.
• Worked on a range of projects: schools, commercial, leisure, luxury housing.
• 3+ years experience.
• Passion for construction.
• Willingness to learn and improve.

Responsibilities

• Preconstruction: support bid development and become the Design Manager for the project.
• Delivery: identify design opportunities and coordinate solutions.
• Commercial awareness: work with QS to turn a profit.
• Team coordination: lead multi-disciplinary design teams and external partners.
• Manage the process: keep records and documentation up to date.

An award winning Kent main contractor (Inc. Best use of BIM) is looking to develop its team by recruiting a Design Manager (could be a Design Coordinator looking to step up) who is looking to develop their career.

Key responsibilities for our Design Manager:

• Preconstruction You will be a part of the bid team supporting the development of tenders for projects that you will go onto be the Design Manager for.
• Delivery Identifying design opportunities as well as potential problems and then coordinating and developing the solution.
• Commercially aware Working with the QS to turn a profit
• Team coordination As well as your technical experience this role is also about taking a leading role in coordinating the various parties involved in the project to deliver the best possible design for the client, for the business and for the supply chain.
• Manage the process Ensure records are maintained

The ideal, but not essential, experience we are looking for in our new Design Manager:

• Worked for a main contractor on projects from £5M to £20M
