Job summary

Randstad CPE is seeking an experienced Design Manager for a major multi-million-pound substations project in Scotland. The role focuses on leading design teams, ensuring regulatory compliance, and integrating design with procurement and construction plans.

The position offers a hybrid working pattern from Motherwell and requires experience in high-voltage substations and SPEN/SSEN schemes. Contract-based with competitive daily rate.

Qualifications

• Degree, HNC, or HND in engineering, architecture, or construction project management.
• Professional membership or working toward CIOB, ICE, or equivalent.
• Proven design management experience across complex infrastructure (electrical substations preferred).
• Previous experience on SPEN or SSEN schemes (strongly preferred).

Responsibilities

• Leading and coordinating multidisciplinary design teams, clients, and supply chains through all project design stages.
• Ensuring that designs comply with statutory regulations, safety standards, and project-specific requirements.
