Job summary

Randstad CPE is seeking an experienced Design Manager for a major substations project in Scotland. This contract role offers hybrid working with a daily rate up to £750 and initial six months plus extensions. You will lead design teams, ensure compliance, and align design with procurement and construction schedules.

Experience with high-voltage substations and SPEN/SSEN schemes is preferred; candidates must be eligible to work in the UK.

Qualifications

• Degree, HNC, or HND in engineering, architecture, or construction project management.
• Professional membership or working toward CIOB, ICE, or equivalent.
• Proven design management experience across complex infrastructure (electrical substations preferred).
• Previous experience on SPEN or SSEN schemes (strongly preferred).

Responsibilities

• Leading and coordinating multidisciplinary design teams, clients, and supply chains through all project design stages.
• Ensuring that designs comply with statutory regulations, safety standards, and project-specific requirements.
• Integrating design programmes with procurement schedules, cost plans, and site construction methods to resolve buildability issues early.
• Managing project information using Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), ViewPoint, and digital carbon assessment tools.

Key Responsibilities
