Job summary

Randstad Construction and Property is recruiting a Design Manager for a national Tier 1 contractor from their regional office in Southampton. You will guide design from bid through to site delivery, leading design teams and ensuring buildability across schemes worth £10m–£70m across Hampshire and surrounding counties.

The role welcomes experienced Design Managers or ambitious Design Coordinators seeking progression. Chartered status is advantageous, with training offered.

Qualifications

• Experience as Design Manager or Design Coordinator with progression potential.
• Chartered status is advantageous; training offered to achieve it if needed.
• Ability to manage design across full lifecycle during bid, design, and site delivery.

Responsibilities

• Lead design across bid stages, 2nd stage, and on-site delivery for multi-million schemes.
• Coordinate design teams, suppliers, and stakeholders to ensure buildability and compliance.
• Support the bid-to-delivery process, ensuring schemes are delivered on time and within budget.

Overview

We are recruiting for a Design Manager for a national Tier 1 contractor from their regional office in Southampton.

They are one of the largest contractors in the UK and have been producing strong financial results for the last 5 years based on a clear business strategy of quality and risk management.

They work on frameworks across education, care, MOD and defence, MOJ, bio research and other cutting edge marketplaces.

Projects range from £10m to £70m across Hampshire, Dorset, Wiltshire.

Role

The role is to work on schemes from bid stages and then through the detailed 2nd stage before taking onto site and helping build and deliver the scheme so bid it, win it, 2nd stage it then take to site and deliver it – full life cycle of the project.

What they are looking for

They are looking for either experienced Design Managers who want the opportunity to get involved in full life cycle of a development and actually have your voice heard and ideas taken seriously, or ambitious Design Co-ordinators ready to take the step up. With the implementation of the Building Safety Act, if you are chartered that would be advantageous; if not they are happy to help with external training to get you there.
