Design Manager

Location - Birmingham OR Oxford

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Design Manager to join an award-winning multi-disciplinary consultancy. This role can be located at their Birmingham or Oxford office.

The design manager will engage with the multi-disciplinary team to shape how design management is carried out on their projects. This role would suit a Lead Consultant or Project Architect wanting to step into a design management role.

• Apply professional Design Management across projects.
• Show ambition and a willingness to work flexibly, both in regional offices and on-site.
• Develop personal growth opportunities for the team.
• Maintain quality service by enforcing quality and customer service standards and recommending system improvements.
• A good understanding of the RIBA Plan of Work and experience through pre- and post-contract stages - RIBA 1 - 6.
• Define design programmes, design deliverables, and communications across multiple complex projects.
• Support the Lead Consultant in project administration and reporting.
• Lead design team meetings with internal and external consultants.
• Support Client technical approval processes and internal quality assurance.
• Lead the Design team to ensure projects are set up for success.
• Degree Qualified - Architecture.
• RIBA Chartered Membership.
• Manage design teams and projects as Lead Consultant.
• Relevant design industry experience, with a background on large complex projects, such as Architecture or Engineering, ideally with chartered status.
• Proficient in digital tools to manage the design process such as MS Excel, MS Project, and document management platforms.
• Experience of defining BIM deliverables and design programming is advantageous.
• Be a proactive leader of teams with excellent attention to detail.
• Work autonomously on projects and confidently manage large design teams.
• Adaptable to work on a range of project sectors and scales.
