Sir Robert McAlpine is delivering a landmark project in Bedfordshire, seeking an experienced Design Manager to guide the design team on a large-scale development combining healthcare, infrastructure and hospitality elements. You will ensure technically compliant, cost-efficient design solutions and collaborate with stakeholders to secure successful tenders and approvals.

The role requires strong CDM knowledge, familiarity with Building Regulations, and experience with NEC3 contracts.

Formación

• Experience in design management for large-scale projects (£100m+), ideally healthcare.
• Strong knowledge of CDM and Building Regulations.
• Experience with NEC3 contracts is advantageous.

Sir Robert McAlpine is delighted to be part of the delivery team supporting Universal Studios in Bedfordshire. We are currently seeking an experienced Design Manager to join our team and work on one of the UK's largest construction programmes with Universal committing more than £5 billion to the development and targeting an opening in 2031.. As one of the main contractors appointed to support construction of the resort, Sir Robert McAlpine will play a key role in delivering this landmark development.

The Design Manager Role

The Design team will delivertechnicallycompliant, cost-efficient designsolutions as part of the new Hospitals 2.0 programme. You'll assistwithsubmissionsand have an excellentappreciationof the clients' needs, ensuring that all questions have been answered in full, providing a commercial solutionwiththe best possible chance of success.

• Establish the quality of thedesignand verify the stage ofdesigndevelopmentand whether any elements of thedesigndo not complywiththe Employer'sRequirements.
• Identify, detail andevaluateareas where the compliantdesigncould be improved such that a better value solution could be offered in the project /tendersubmission.
• Assess, in conjunctionwiththe planning team, thesuitabilityof the proposeddesignabout the proposed method and sequence of construction and provide advice regarding proposed changes to thedesign.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to deliver innovative, compliant solutions.
• Ensure adherence to statutory requirements, planning permissions, Building Regulations, CDM regulations, and contract-specific standards.
• Identify opportunities for design improvement and manage risks effectively.

Your Profile

You will have:

• Expertise in P23, NEC3 contracts, and healthcare sector delivery.
