Job description

Malaberg is a pioneering direct-to-consumer business at the forefront of nutrition, wellness & skincare for the over 50’s. As a vertically-integrated company, Malaberg is built to create, launch & scale innovative brands with cutting-edge products. Reporting to the Founder & sitting at the heart of the Brand Creation team, this role is all about leading the creative development of new brands – from proposition to go-to-market execution.

We’ll be launching 3-4 brands a year – making this a uniquely exciting & dynamic role. Accordingly, Malaberg moves fast, takes risks & trusts its instincts. Our Creative Leader will do the same – ideating & iterating at pace to home in on the right territory before taking the time to craft the final brand.

The Role

As Design Lead , you’ll be responsible for translating strategic ideas into distinctive, high-impact visual identities. You’ll shape how each brand looks, feels, and communicates—across packaging, art direction, graphic systems, and more. This role calls for a creative thinker who can balance experimentation with clarity, working fluidly across teams to bring brands to life with originality and purpose.

In this role, you will:

  • Collaborate with the Brand Creation Team to craft distinctive, memorable & valuable brands.
  • Lead the creative development through graphic design (logo, typography, colour palette, graphic language, iconography etc), packaging design (both physical form & graphic application), art direction (brand world, photographic/video guidelines, illustration style etc) and communications (key assets, formats, layouts, templates etc.)
  • Work collaboratively with the Strategy Lead to ensure the brand proposition is brought to life through powerful creative expression.
  • Work collaboratively with the Product Lead to ensure the product & brand work in perfect concert to deliver the proposition in both performance (formula, function & benefits) and form (formats, packaging, and messaging).
  • Work collaboratively with the Brand Copy Lead to ensure the visual & verbal elements of the brand work in harmony.
  • Codify the look & feel of the brand & provide both guidelines & key templates for the designers responsible for day-to-day execution.
  • Inspire the wider executional team and periodically ensure we’re staying true to the vision (this role will not be responsible for overseeing and approving all creative execution & output).

What We’re Looking For

  • A seasoned Creative Director with a strong design background , experienced in building iconic brands from scratch across all touchpoints
  • Expertise across graphic design, packaging, art direction, and communications
  • Experience working closely with cross-functional partners—strategy, UX, copy, and content—to create holistic brands
  • Ability to codify brands into powerful guidelines that make consistent execution easy
  • A hands-on creative who inspires by doing, not just directing—leading the team with clarity, passion, and purpose
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced, collaborative environments—where speed, intuition, and openness matter more than slow perfection
  • Genuine interest in health, wellness, nutrition, or skincare
  • Empathy and proven experience in building brands that resonate with diverse audiences, including mature, wellness-conscious consumers.
