Job summary

The City of London Corporation is seeking a talented design and heritage officer to join the Design Team within the City’s Planning service. You will work at the cutting edge of conservation and design, collaborating with architects, conservationists, accessibility specialists, public realm experts, urban designers and archaeologists.

You will provide guidance on planning submissions, promote innovative design solutions, and help develop policy and design guides to ensure heritage is celebrated

Qualifications

• Degree in planning, urban design, building conservation, architecture or equivalent.
• Membership or eligibility for RTPI or IHBC would be a plus.
• Digital literacy and commitment to excellent customer service are essential.

Responsibilities

• Provide urban design and conservation advice on planning and listed building consent applications from pre-application through to delivery on site.
• Promote alternative design solutions to balance urban design and conservation issues for good growth and high-quality design.
• Contribute to the development of policy, planning guidance, design guides and Conservation Area Appraisals.
• Engage collaboratively with Development Management, Transport, Sustainability, Public Realm, Policy and S106 Planning across departments.
