Liverpool City Council is seeking a Principal Urban Design Officer to lead design advice across planning schemes and major city projects from the Cunard Building in Liverpool. You will develop masterplans, development frameworks and policy documents while ensuring high-quality design and heritage considerations.

The role focuses on delivering design excellence, public art, and guidance for major proposals, with agile working options and strong community outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Lead role in promoting excellent design at pre-application and application stage in planning schemes and corporate projects across the City.
• Prepare masterplans, development frameworks and planning policy documents and provide design advice for major proposals.
• Prepare good practice design guidance and design briefs for key sites before securing development.
• Provide design advice to ensure new development complements the historic environment and promote public art.
