Job summary

Camden is seeking a Design Engineer to help deliver safer, healthier, and more sustainable streets. You will work on highways, traffic, parking, active travel and public realm projects from feasibility through detailed design to construction, producing drawings and documentation in AutoCAD.

You'll collaborate with Senior Engineers, Project Managers and partners, applying urban design principles to balance movement with communities’ needs and ensuring safety, accessibility and sustainability are

Qualifications

• Engineering qualification at degree level or equivalent, with post-qualification experience.
• Understanding of highway design in an urban environment and related standards.
• Experience designing highway schemes and working with partners and stakeholders.
• Experience with project and budget management, public consultation, contracts and procurement.
• Proven ability to produce highway designs using AutoCAD and communicate technical information clearly.

Responsibilities

• Deliver highway, traffic, parking, active travel and public realm projects from feasibility to detailed design and construction.
• Produce engineering drawings and technical documentation using AutoCAD and other industry-standard software.
• Support preparation of specifications, cost estimates, quantities and contract documentation.
• Undertake site visits, inspections and surveys for highway layouts, junction improvements, drainage and traffic management.
• Embed safety, accessibility, sustainability and maintenance considerations in designs.
