Job summary

Robert Bird Group, a global consulting engineering firm, seeks a Senior Engineer in the UK to own detailed structural design and coordinate across disciplines. You will contribute to commercial developments, data centres and mixed-use schemes, ensuring safe temporary works and high quality outputs.

Ideal candidates hold a Structural/Civil Engineering degree, are progressing toward chartership, and are fluent with Eurocodes and 3D design tools like Tekla, Revit or Robot.

Qualifications

• A degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with a strong interest in structural design.
• Ideally working towards chartership with the IStructE or ICE, or already Chartered/Incorporated.
• Familiarity with Eurocodes and relevant design guidance; proficiency in 3D modelling.

Responsibilities

• Lead client liaison and support business development
• Coordinate project delivery, resources, and design documentation
• Develop engineering solutions and lead design philosophy
• Produce preliminary and detailed designs for temporary and permanent works
• Carry out design checking, technical reporting and subcontractor coordination
• Develop erection schemes and specialist engineering methodologies
• Support Associates and Associate Directors with resource planning, technical delivery, and project coordination
• Support cost control, fee proposals, and project variations
• Conduct site inspections and provide technical support to site teams
• Ensure temporary works are designed, checked and constructed safely
• Mentor junior engineers and support team development
• Ensure compliance with Quality, Health & Safety and RBG procedures

About the role

As a Senior Engineer, you will take ownership of detailed structural design aligned with project programmes, collaborating closely with other disciplines to ensure seamless integration across the project team. You will contribute to a diverse portfolio of projects, including commercial developments, mixed-use schemes, and data centres.

• Lead client liaison and support business development

The ideal candidate will bring:

• A degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with a strong interest in structural design
• Ideally working towards chartership with the IStructE or ICE, or already Chartered/IncorporatedDemonstrated experience and competency in structural design
• Flexibility and initiative to rise to challenging situations
• Ability to take on responsibility appropriate to capability
• Familiarity with Eurocodes and relevant design guidance
• Proficiency in 3D structural design software (e.g., Tekla, Revit, Robot, etc.)
• At least 1 year of being the project lead in a client facing role
