Job summary

Robert Bird Group is seeking a Design Engineer in its UK Infrastructure team to deliver sustainable, technically excellent engineering solutions across masterplanning and infrastructure projects. You will support project delivery, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to governance within the UK practice.

You will bring a Civil Engineering degree, be on track for ICE chartership or already Chartered, and have proven delivery experience with Civil 3D, Microdrainage and Navisworks.

Qualifications

• A degree in Civil Engineering.
• Ideally working towards chartership with the ICE, or already Chartered/Incorporated.
• Proven experience in delivering infrastructure and bespoke projects.
• Proficiency in Civil 3D, Microdrainage, Navisworks.

Responsibilities

• Lead client liaison and support business development
• Coordinate project delivery, resources, and design documentation
• Develop engineering solutions and lead design philosophy
• Produce preliminary and detailed designs for temporary and permanent works
• Carry out design checking, technical reporting and subcontractor coordination
• Develop erection schemes and specialist engineering methodologies
• Support Associates and Associate Directors with resource planning, technical delivery, and project coordination
• Support cost control, fee proposals, and project variations
• Conduct site inspections and provide technical support to site teams
• Ensure temporary works are designed, checked and constructed safely
• Mentor junior engineers and support team development
• Ensure compliance with Quality, Health & Safety and RBG procedures

About the role

As a Design Engineer in our Infrastructure team, you will play a key role in delivering sustainable, technically excellent, and commercially successful engineering solutions across a diverse range of masterplanning and infrastructure projects. You will support project delivery, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to business development and technical governance within the UK practice.

The ideal candidate will bring:

• Proficiency in industry-standard design software (e.g., Civil 3D, Microdrainage, Navisworks)
