Build Recruitment Limited is seeking a Design Engineer / Project Manager for commercial renewable energy projects. This permanent role focuses on PV installations and project management, with travel across Devon and Cornwall and accommodation provided for away work.

Ideal candidates will have solar PV experience, driving licence, and a project management background with 18th edition and related qualifications.

Qualifications

• Solar PV and project management experience preferred.
• Willingness to travel with provided van and fuel card.
• 18th edition wiring regulations knowledge.
• 2391 testing and inspection desirable.
• CSCS, ECS or JIB cards preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage PV projects to completion, meeting milestones.
• Develop schedules, budgets and resource plans.
• Coordinate with internal teams to meet objectives.
• Provide technical guidance throughout projects.
• Ensure drawings and specifications are reviewed and approved.
• Comply with regulations and best practices.
• Assist with procurement and tender documentation.
• Evaluate bids from contractors and suppliers.
• Support construction, commissioning and handover activities.
• Maintain client relationships and communicate transparently.

This is a permanentrole working with a leading solar PV installations & renewable energy contractor, who’s primary focus is working oncommercial properties. They cover areas around Devon and Cornwall but also take on contractsfurther afield. All awayworkcomes with accommodation, traveland bonuses paid.

Our client is seeking a design engineer / project manager that would ideally come froman M&E or renewable energybackground.

Requirements (Please note: Wedo not necessarily need all of the below to apply)

• Previous solar PV & Project management experience.
• Happy to travel – Van & Fuel card provided.
• 18th edition.
• 2391 Test & inspect.
• NVQ Level 3 (Electrician)
• CSCS, ECS or JIB card (Preferred)
• Driving licence (Essential)
• A project management qualification: E.G– NVQ, Prince 2, bachelorsdegree etc.
• SMSTS or qualification in management.
• Professional at all times.
• Good work ethic.

• Project Management:
• Guide &manage PV projects to completion, ensuring project milestones are met.
• Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and resource plans.

• Provide technical oversight and guidance throughout the project.
• Ensure engineering designs, specifications, and drawings are reviewed and approved.
• Ensure compliance with local regulations, standards, and best practices.
• Support preparation of technical specifications and tender documents for procurement of equipment and services.
• Evaluate bids and proposals from contractors and suppliers.
• Provide technical assistance during construction, commissioning, and operational phases.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, regulatory authorities, and local communities.
• Represent the company in technical discussions and negotiations.
• Ensure transparent and timely communication with clients.
• Implement and monitor quality control processes to ensure project deliverables meet the required standards.
• Conduct regular site inspections and audits to verify compliance with project specifications.
• Manage the commissioning and acceptance testing of PV systems.
