Job summary

Ernest Gordon Recruitment is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer for a Bradford-based role offering hybrid working, a £50,000–£55,000 salary, and a company bonus. You will own electrical design for enclosures and control panels, work across the full lifecycle, and collaborate with Production, Procurement and Quality teams.

Ideal candidates will have industrial sector experience, proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN, and a Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Produce electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts and cable schedules.
• Design electrical systems for control panels, generator enclosures and associated equipment.
• Specify cables, protection devices and electrical components.
• Complete cable and lighting calculations using Amtech, Dialux or similar.
• Design containment, cable entry, gland plates and termination arrangements.
• Interpret customer specifications, electrical design basis and hazardous area documentation.
• Ensure designs meet BS/IEC standards (BS7671) and are manufacturable.
• Provide technical support during panel build, FAT, commissioning and fault finding.
• Liaise with customers, suppliers and consultants on technical queries and changes.

Are you an Electrical Design Engineer from an industrial background looking to join a well-established manufacturer, offering hybrid working, a company bonus and career progression, where you can take ownership of high-value electrical design projects?

Established in the 1980s, this specialist engineering company designs, manufactures and supplies bespoke acoustic enclosures, canopies and noise-control solutions for power generation and industrial equipment. The company works with OEMs, EPC contractors and end clients across power generation, oil & gas, marine and industrial sectors, delivering both standard and fully engineered electrical and control packages.

In this role, you will be responsible for the electrical design of enclosures, control panels and associated packages, working closely with Engineering, Production, Procurement and Quality teams. You will produce electrical drawings and schematics, specify components and cables, complete calculations, interpret customer specifications and provide technical support through panel build, FAT, commissioning and occasional site visits.

This role would suit an Electrical Design Engineer with experience within industrial, power generation, marine, oil & gas or similar environments, looking to take ownership of technically varied projects and work across the full design and manufacturing lifecycle.

The Role

The Person

• Experience in electrical design within industrial, power generation, marine, oil & gas or similar
• Experience with AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN or similar
