Job summary

Aligra Personnel Ltd. seeks an Applications & Design-for-Manufacture Engineer to join a fast-paced team in Swindon, Wiltshire. The role blends hands-on design, prototyping and client engagement, with regional travel to assess project needs and support manufacturing success.

You will create CAD models, optimize designs for production, and contribute to NPI with cross-functional teams. Travel and training are supported as you grow in this dynamic role.

Qualifications

• Engineering background (HNC/HND/Degree or equivalent)
• 2D/3D CAD experience (SolidWorks/AutoCAD)
• Understanding of manufacturing processes and materials
• Excellent communication for customer-facing roles

Responsibilities

• Support sales with regional client visits to assess project needs and provide expert technical advice
• Deliver real-time design-for-manufacture solutions during client meetings
• Create accurate 2D and 3D CAD models and manufacturing drawings (training provided)
• Review customer designs to optimise for production efficiency and cost
• Oversee prototyping and NPI processes with production teams
• Produce detailed technical documentation for manufacturing and quality control

Applications & Design-for-Manufacture (DFM) Engineer

Location: Swindon, Wiltshire (with regional travel)

Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 per annum (approx. £673-£769 per week) + Performance Bonus + Travel Allowance

Requirements:

• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and material characteristics
• Excellent communication skills tailored to technical and customer-facing situations
• Valid UK driving licence and willingness to travel regionally
• Very presentable, this is both an internal and externally facing role
