Job summary

MacTaggart Scott designs equipment and coatings strategies for demanding marine and subsea applications. The role focuses on materials, coatings input, and compliant designs delivered on time and within budget, under a Principal Engineer.

The candidate will work across bids, manufacture, test and in-service support with high autonomy and opportunities for global travel. Strong CAD skills and NDT knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

• Qualification in Mechanical or Materials Engineering with or without an apprenticeship.
• Coating inspection certification or equivalent requirement.
• Experience creating engineering documentation.
• Experience with CAD and solid modelling.
• Knowledge of NDT methods and acceptance criteria.
• Experience in marine/subsea environments is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Designing equipment and specifying components with calculations.
• Producing engineering drawings and technical documentation.
• Providing materials and coatings input to designs.
• Creating coating procedures, design reports and calculations.
• Carrying out corrosion assessments for seawater environments.
• Developing innovative design solutions for demanding applications.
• Providing technical input to bids, tenders and customer enquiries.
• Supporting production with NDT and coating inspectors during build and test.
• Assisting in-service issue resolution as required.
• Communicating with cross-functional teams including QA, Inspection, Production and Procurement.
• Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and design/process optimisation.

ASNT or PCN Level 1 Non-Destructive Testing certification
