First Military Recruitment, in partnership with a major construction business, seeks a Design Engineer at their Swindon depot. You will manage design consultants, act as technical lead for permanent works, and ensure design deliverables align with client requirements.

Qualifications

• Wide-ranging understanding of construction methods and outputs; able to coach others.
• Substantial construction and design experience.
• Understands the Principal Designer duties.
• Promotes Digital Engineering practices in design and construction.

Responsibilities

• Manage design consultant activities and deliverables to comply with programme and client requirements.
• Act as technical lead for permanent works design on the project when no Design Manager is present.
• Track and report design input/output deliverables to Project/Engineering Manager.
• Manage the Technical Queries process and follow up on responses.
• Coordinate design queries and information from workshops and meetings; keep records.
• Raise internal and external information requests from the project team.
• Support Design Manager to provide deliverables on time per design programmes.
• Review monthly design progress reports and update deliverables schedule.
• Ensure design deliverables meet required standards and align with client scope.
• Attend interface meetings with external parties and record actions.
• Arrange internal design interface meetings with construction.
• Ensure compliance with contract design management processes.
• Collaborate with external suppliers/subcontractors.
• Manage provision of drawings and document control.
• Oversee BIM requirements for permanent and temporary works with BIM/CAD Technician.
• Assist with temporary works design packages and process adherence.
• Undertake other duties as necessary.
• Liaise with Designer or representative under contract.
• Work with Technical Services to ensure best practice in design management.
• Promote the business to clients, designers and other organisations.
• Maintain contacts with Consultants, Clients and others to deliver value.
• Assist with recruitment and development of engineers.
• Help build company profile in schools, universities and industry.
