Job summary

Glenair in the United Kingdom is seeking a Design Engineer to conceive, prepare, design and draft engineering solutions for projects in the Design Office. This full-time permanent role operates Monday to Friday, 7:30am to 4:00pm.

You will produce detailed 3D CAD models and 2D drawings in line with BS8888 and company standards, apply DFM and DFA, and support the full design lifecycle from concept through to production.

Qualifications

• HNC/HND or Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or time-served apprenticeship) with a minimum of 2 years’ experience
• Good knowledge of engineering materials and manufacturing processes, particularly CNC machining
• Proficiency in creating and interpreting detailed engineering drawings in line with BS8888 and geometric tolerancing (GD&T)
• Experience interpreting and applying technical specifications
• This role requires BPSS Security clearance
• Experience within aerospace, defence, or other high-reliability industries

Responsibilities

• Conception, preparation, design and drafting of engineering solutions for projects in the Design Office
• Develop bespoke connector and interconnect solutions tailored to customer requirements
• Produce detailed 3D CAD models and 2D drawings in line with BS8888
• Support the full design lifecycle from concept through to production, including project closure and review
• Apply Design for Manufacture (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles
• Maintain accurate engineering documentation including drawings, bills of materials, and project records
