Job summary

Taylor Woodrow is seeking a Degree Qualified Design Engineer to join our engineering team supporting temporary works and construction engineering solutions. You will develop designs, perform analyses, prepare risk assessments and collaborate with site teams to resolve challenges.

In this role you will work across engineering and construction disciplines, contribute to BIM initiatives, and help deliver large-scale infrastructure projects with a strong focus on buildability and safety.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or related discipline.
• Proven experience designing Temporary Works in construction or infrastructure.
• Experience with Main Contractors or Temporary Works Consultancy.
• Knowledge of CDM Regulations and designer responsibilities.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

The Role

• Developing temporary works and construction engineering solutions.
• Producing designs in accordance with relevant standards, codes and industry best practice.
• Undertaking engineering analysis and calculations to support design development.
• Preparing design risk assessments and contributing to risk management processes.
• Supporting construction teams in identifying and resolving engineering challenges.
• Evaluating alternative design options and producing cost-effective solutions.
• Using industry-standard design software and validating outputs through engineering principles and hand calculations.
• Maintaining accurate design records and technical documentation.
• Collaborating with colleagues across engineering, construction and project teams.
• Supporting BIM and digital engineering initiatives.
• Contributing to continuous improvement, innovation and sustainable construction objectives.
• Degree qualified in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proven experience in Temporary Works Design within the construction or infrastructure sector.
• Previous experience working for a Main Contractor or an established Temporary Works Consultancy is essential.
• Good understanding of construction methodologies and buildability.
• Experience producing engineering calculations and technical reports.
• Knowledge of CDM Regulations and designer responsibilities.
• Familiarity with relevant design standards and codes of practice.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
