Job summary

Millbank Holdings Ltd is seeking a Design Engineer to take ownership of design delivery on complex infrastructure projects. The role involves coordinating consultants, leading technical design activities, and ensuring outputs meet programme and quality expectations.

The successful candidate will coordinate across multidisciplinary teams and support design programme management, with experience in heavy civil projects or tunnelling being advantageous. This is a site-based role within the UK.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in design and construction environments within engineering or infrastructure projects.
• Strong understanding of design management processes, including technical queries and stakeholder coordination.
• Knowledge of CDM regulations and Principal Designer responsibilities.
• Experience with digital engineering tools, including BIM and CAD processes.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and coordinate external design consultants to ensure on-time deliverables meeting client specifications.
• Act as technical lead for design elements, monitoring progress and reporting to senior leadership.
• Manage design queries and workshop outputs with clear communication across project teams.
• Review drawings and design submissions for compliance with project scope and standards.
• Support design programme management, maintain design schedules, and contribute to BIM coordination and document control.

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Design Engineer to join a leading engineering contractor, playing a key role in delivering high-value infrastructure projects and driving technical excellence across design activities.

The Role

This role would suit candidates working in these roles;Design Engineer, Civil Design Engineer, Structural Engineer, Temporary Works Engineer, Senior CAD Engineer, BIM Engineer, Project Engineer, Engineering Coordinator, Technical Engineer, Design Coordinator.We would also welcome applications from these industries;Construction, infrastructure, rail, nuclear, energy, utilities.

Your duties and responsibilities will be

• Oversee and coordinate external design consultants to ensure deliverables are produced on time and meet client specifications
• Act as a technical lead for design elements, monitoring progress and reporting updates to senior engineering leadership
• Manage design queries, requests for information, and workshop outputs while ensuring clear communication across project teams
• Review drawings and design submissions, ensuring compliance with project scope, processes, and required standards

You will have the following qualifications and experience

• Proven experience in both design and construction environments within engineering or infrastructure projects
