Job summary

Sapien Engineering seeks an experienced Design Engineer to join our Derby-based engineering team, focused on the design and development of complex turbomachinery and rotating equipment. The role requires direct gas turbine or turbomachinery experience.

You will lead mechanical design activities from concept through production, develop and maintain designs, and collaborate with manufacturing and customers to resolve technical issues. 6+ years of relevant experience is expected.

Qualifications

• 6+ years' relevant mechanical design experience.
• Experience in gas turbine design or turbomachinery.
• Strong CAD experience; Siemens NX familiarity advantageous.
• Ability to lead design activities from concept to production.

Our ideal candidate will have direct gas turbine or turbomachinery experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and execute mechanical design activities from concept through to production.
• Create, develop and maintain complex mechanical and turbomachinery designs.
• Ensure designs meet technical, manufacturing, performance and customer requirements.
• Manage multiple engineering projects and deliver designs to agreed cost and schedule.
• Produce and maintain engineering drawings and design documentation.
• Work closely with manufacturing, engineering and customers to resolve technical issues.
• Support design reviews, technical assessments and product development activities.
• Present technical information and design solutions to internal teams and customers.
• 6+ years' relevant mechanical design experience.
• Strong experience in one or more of the following areas: Gas turbine design or engineering, Turbomachinery, Gas turbine equipment
• Proven experience taking designs from concept through to production.
• Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, manufacturing processes and engineering requirements.
• Experience working with customers and cross-functional engineering teams.
• Strong CAD experience; Siemens NX experience is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or a related discipline.
• Relevant industry experience will be considered in place of formal qualifications.
