Job summary

Futures recruitment are seeking a Design Engineer with hydraulic systems experience to take bespoke projects from requirements to manufacture and commissioning.

You will develop tailored hydraulic solutions and combine practical design with technical problem-solving for defence, nuclear, renewable energy, and industrial automation sectors.

Qualifications

• Experience in hydraulic system design and development.
• Ability to produce accurate engineering drawings and hydraulic schematics.
• Experience with BOMs and production-ready documentation.

Responsibilities

• Develop tailored hydraulic solutions (power units, manifolds, valve blocks, assemblies).
• Produce 3D CAD models, drawings, hydraulic schematics, and BOMs.
• Perform engineering calculations to validate performance and ensure compliance with standards.
• Consider manufacturing and assembly implications throughout the design process.
• Collaborate with customers, suppliers, and manufacturing/test teams to deliver projects.
• Identify improvements for performance, reliability, and manufacturability.

Futures recruitment are looking to appoint a Design Engineer with hydraulic systems experience to take bespoke engineering projects from initial requirements through to manufacture and commissioning.

This role offers the opportunity to combine practical design expertise with technical problem-solving, developing solutions for demanding applications across defence, nuclear, renewable energy, oil & gas, and industrial automation.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Develop tailored hydraulic solutions, including power units, manifolds, valve blocks, and integrated assemblies.
• Turn customer requirements into production-ready designs, creating 3D CAD models, detailed drawings, hydraulic schematics, and Bills of Materials.
• Carry out engineering calculations to validate performance, ensuring designs meet applicable standards, safety requirements, and project specifications.
• Apply practical manufacturing and assembly considerations throughout the design process.
• Work closely with customers, suppliers, and manufacturing, assembly, and test teams to resolve technical issues and support successful project delivery.
• Contribute to product development and continuous improvement, identifying opportunities to improve performance, reliability, and ease of manufacture.
