Job summary

Candidate Source seeks a Design Engineer to join our Engineering team in the UK, driving development of high-temperature metal seals for aerospace, automotive and power sectors. You will respond to customer enquiries, review applications and develop technical specifications, while creating CAD models and liaising with stakeholders.

The role requires experience in 2D/3D CAD (AutoCAD, Inventor) and applying engineering calculations to specify catalogue parts and bespoke seal designs.

Qualifications

• Demonstrable skills in engineering calculations and product specification.
• Experience creating engineering drawings with AutoCAD or Inventor.
• Hold a relevant degree or equivalent level.

Responsibilities

• Respond to customer enquiries and review applications.
• Develop technical specifications and specify catalogue parts.
• Optimise seal configurations and design bespoke seals and gaskets.
• Create 2D CAD drawings and 3D CAD models and maintain design files.
• Liaise with internal stakeholders to ensure design suitability.
• Utilise FEA tools to develop part designs (e.g., ANSYS preferred).
• Perform physical testing to validate part performance.
• Develop customer relationships and support Sales.
• Perform technical investigations and provide support to customers.

A global specialist in the design and manufacture of high-temperature metal seals for aerospace, automotive and power generation sectors are seeking a Design Engineer to join their Engineering team to drive the next phase of development and growth.

Duties

• Respond to customer enquiries
• review applications
• develop technical specifications
• Specify catalogue parts
• optimise seal configurations and design bespoke seals and gaskets
• Create 2D CAD drawings and 3D CAD models, maintain design files and drawing registers
• Liaise with internal stakeholders to ensure design suitability
• Utilise computer-based tools (e.g. Finite Element Analysis) to develop part designs
• Perform physical testing (e.g. load deflection, leak testing) to validate part performance
• Develop customer relationships, support Sales, develop product range and performance
• Perform technical investigations and provide support to internal and external Customers

Key skills and experience

To be successful in the role of Design Engineer you will have demonstratable skills and experience in the following:

• Strong interpersonal skills, comfortable with internal stakeholder and Customer liaison
• Performing engineering calculations, application review and product specification
• Creation of engineering drawings, AutoDesk Autocad and Inventor, maintaining technical files
• Hold a relevant degree or equivalent level

Preferred experience

To be considered for the role you should ideally have experience in:

• Precision metal forming/fabrication
• New product introduction, process feasibility
• Quality assurance & auditing
• Finite Element Analysis (ANSYS preferred, non-linear desirable)
