Job summary

Quanex is seeking a Design & Development Engineer for our Newton Aycliffe, UK site. The role focuses on development and design of sealing systems and new products, with a strong emphasis on thermoplastic extrusion and prototype creation.

You will lead trials, analyze data, and collaborate across functions to translate customer needs into robust product performance criteria while staying aligned with production release goals.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years in the plastics industry or related engineering discipline.
• Engineering discipline and hands-on design experience required.
• Strong CAD and prototyping skills with a focus on developing new products.

Responsibilities

• Design solutions for new products within on-site development framework.
• Lead trials and testing of extrusion processes and create prototypes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate innovations into development processes.
• Lead new product development from concept to production release.
• Validate designs, processes, and materials through testing and evaluation.
