Job summary

KTL is seeking a Senior Design Manager to lead the design delivery across multiple large telecom projects in the UK. You will guide the design team, coordinate CAD engineers, and collaborate with clients to meet time, cost, and quality targets while maintaining health and safety standards.

You will drive continuous improvement, oversee templates and tools, and report monthly on delivery performance to the Head of Design. Strong leadership and UK telecom experience are essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years’ experience in UK mobile telecom design production and delivery.
• Experience with designs from Vodafone, Ericsson, Nokia, BT/EE in the UK.
• Degree in a relevant discipline and project management accreditation desirable.
• Good technical understanding of the telecommunications industry.
• Strong knowledge of health & safety requirements in telecom design.
• Excellent commercial aptitude and client-facing experience.
• Strong understanding of project methodology and KPIs.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Strong leadership and coaching abilities.
• Organisational ability with MS Project or similar tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage design delivery on large projects to ensure key deliverables.
• One-to-one meetings with design staff monthly; performance coaching.
• Manage subcontractors and monitor time, cost, quality, and H&S.
• Training and lessons learnt sessions; maintain documentation of design process.
• Prepare monthly delivery and performance reports for Head of Design.
• Set up design templates and internal tools; define long/short-term strategies.
• Work with customers on design requirements; be escalation point for major issues.
• Ensure handover documentation is completed Right First Time.
