Job summary

Murphy is recruiting for a Design Coordinator to work with the Energy Team on the SSEN ASTI Framework. The role involves helping deliver high-quality designs within budget and programme, coordinating with design and construction teams, and supporting site investigations.

You will handle design briefs, review submissions, and manage design records. Ideal candidates will have significant experience in design coordination, proficiency in AutoCAD and ProjectWise, and an engineering qualification

Qualifications

• Significant experience in a design coordination role (civil engineering).
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and ProjectWise; CAD capability.
• HND or Engineering Degree qualification in a relevant field.
• Member of an engineering institution (IEng/CEng) or working towards membership.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Design Manager to deliver high quality designs to budget and programme.
• Prepare briefs/remits for design packages and for site investigation and survey packages.
• Coordinate with external and internal design and construction teams to deliver integrated designs.
• Review submissions for quality and sufficiency as directed.
• Update design folders and registers; produce minutes and schedules for Design Review Meetings.
• Assist wider engineering team with inputs; attend site as required.

A day in the life of a Murphy Design Coordinator

• Assist the Design Manager to deliver high quality designs to budget and programme
• Prepare briefs/remits for design packages and for site investigation and survey packages
• Strike up good working relationships with external and internal design and construction teams to deliver integrated designs which are buildable and maintainable
• Review submissions as directed for quality and sufficiency
• Update design folders and registers on an ongoing basis
• Produce minutes and schedules for Design Review Meetings
• Assist the wider engineering team members as required with engineering input
• Able to communicate engineering ideas through sketching and drawing by hand and using CAD software
• Attend site as required
• Co-ordination / management abilities to deal with several small projects or large multi-disciplined projects
• Design capability as pre-requisite for submission review and checking

• Significant experience in a design coordination role
• Computer literate with strong skills in Microsoft Office and other design-based software such as AutoCad and ProjectWise
• HND or Engineering Degree qualified
• Experience of undertaking or coordinating design within civil engineering
• Management skills – confident managing staff, clients, figures, issues and programmes.
• Flexibility and willingness to travel.
• Member of a recognised engineering institution. Incorporated Engineer or Chartered and or working towards membership.
