Within the Wing Plant Engineering Team (PET), we are looking to appoint a Lead Design Engineer who will support the Wing Component Delivery Teams (CDTs).
The PET's primary function is to provide engineering support to the Broughton Plant and its supply chain, enabling wings to be delivered to the final assembly lines. We identify improvements, undertake investigations, and provide technical solutions via structural and systems modifications for design for cost, rate, and quality improvements.
The successful applicant will be part of a fast-moving team delivering high-quality design solutions by collaborating with manufacturing engineering to meet the needs of our industrial system and maintain the highest levels of product integrity.
This role offers an excellent opportunity for a committed individual to further develop their technical and leadership skills within a positive and supportive team environment. It provides a great chance for personal growth and for building a network across the Wing Engineering community, the plant production team, and support functions. This position supports the plant engineering team and the Broughton Plant.

You will liaise with other functions to ensure fully integrated design solutions where appropriate.
You must hold (or have held) design approval signatory authority, particularly for manufacturing non-conformances (T200). You will act as a focal point for leading and guiding on technical issues and governance, and support technical mentoring within the engineering team.
A high level of energy is required to drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase team efficiency through methods, processes, and other improvements, ensuring a robust lessons learned and feedback process.
Reporting on critical technical issues will be required through functional managers and directly to delivery managers to ensure effective issue management. Developing stakeholder relationships across the wider engineering network is also essential.
