Job summary

Lift Firth Park is seeking a proactive Art and Design Technology Technician to support lessons, manage materials and ensure safe, effective practical learning across design spaces. You will prepare resources, maintain equipment and help run DT projects in a vibrant secondary setting.

The role requires hands-on tool experience, strong attention to safety, and the ability to guide staff and students in practical tasks. UK right to work is essential.

Qualifications

• GCSE Maths and English at Grade C / 4+ (or equivalent).
• Formal qualification in Art, Design Technology, or a closely related technical discipline.
• Practical experience in Art or Design Technology (educational or industry).
• Hands-on experience operating power tools and working with wood, metal, and plastics.
• High accuracy and thoroughness in equipment maintenance and safety protocols.
• Ability to explain technical advice and safety guidelines clearly to staff and students.
• Strong initiative to anticipate needs and take ownership of tasks.

Responsibilities

• Technical Support: Assist teachers in preparing and delivering practical lessons and demonstrations to enhance student performance in Design Technology.
• ResourceManagement: Organise and maintain inventory of materials, tools, and resources; manage orders and deliveries.
• Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance, basic repairs, and troubleshooting on equipment; keep maintenance records.
• Health andSafety: Ensure compliance with health and safety standards; conduct risk assessments and provide safety guidance.
• Assistance with Projects and Events: Support teachers and students in project planning and delivery; assist with event setups and dismantling.
• First Aid: Willingness to complete Emergency First Aid training.

Education

GCSE Maths and English (Grade C/4+ or equivalent)

Art/Design Technology qualification
