Job summary

Prospero Teaching is recruiting a Design & Technology teacher with a Product Design focus for a maternity cover starting January 2027 at a well‑established Southampton secondary school. The role supports a thriving Technology department with modern facilities and dedicated technical support.

Both experienced teachers and ECTs are welcome. The position offers full‑time hours (0.8 considered) and a competitive pay scale (£34,069 - £52,835 per annum).

Qualifications

• QTS is required and product design/DT teaching experience is preferred.
• ECTs encouraged to apply and safeguarding training can be provided.

Responsibilities

• Teach Design & Technology focusing on Product Design across KS3 & KS4.
• Plan, prepare and assess student work in line with curriculum expectations.
• Develop design, manufacturing and problem-solving skills using modern facilities and CAD technologies.
• Monitor progress and provide constructive feedback; support curriculum development.

Prospero Teaching is working with a well‑established secondary school in Southampton to recruit an enthusiastic and creative Design & Technology Teacher specialising in Product Design for a maternity cover position starting in January 2027.

The Role:

• Teach Design & Technology with a focus on Product Design
• Deliver engaging and practical lessons across KS3 and KS4
• Plan, prepare, and assess student work in line with curriculum expectations
• Support students in developing design, manufacturing, and problem‑solving skills
• Make use of modern workshop facilities and CAD technologies
• Monitor progress and provide constructive feedback
• Contribute to departmental planning and curriculum development
• Promote high standards of behaviour, engagement, and achievement
• Follow safeguarding and school policies consistently
