Job summary

Goodman Masson is seeking a Design & Technical Manager for a 12-month FTC in London, site-based. The role leads design delivery across housing schemes and oversees consultants through early design, planning, construction and handover.

Responsibilities include coordinating design deliverables to meet cost and programme targets, providing technical input to appraisals, and ensuring compliance with H&S and regulations. Strong leadership and stakeholder management are essential.

Qualifications

• Degree in design or construction discipline.
• CIOB, RIBA or equivalent (working towards).
• Experience in design/technical management in residential construction.
• Strong IT skills including MS Office and MS Project.

Responsibilities

• Lead consultant teams across multiple residential projects.
• Oversee design from inception to handover and procurement.
• Provide technical input to scheme appraisals, pricing and early-stage design.
• Coordinate consultants and manage design deliverables to meet cost, quality and programme targets.
• Production for a BSR Gateway 2 submission.
• Collaborate with Land, Commercial and Construction teams for buildability and cost control.
• Support due diligence and manage technical risk.
• Set and monitor design-related budgets and governance.
• Ensure compliance with H&S and building regulations.

Design & Technical Manager (12 Month FTC)

London - Site based

£80k-£85k plus Car Allowance

I am working with a large Registered Provider who are seeking a Design & Technical Manager on a 12 Month FTC to lead design delivery across multiple housing schemes.

This role has responsibility for managing consultants and the full technical process from early design and planning through construction and post-completion.

Key Responsibilities:

• Responsibility for leading the consultant teams day to day activities across multiple residential projects
• Oversee design from inception, planning and procurement through to handover
• Provide technical input to scheme appraisals, pricing and early-stage design
• Coordinate consultants and manage design deliverables to meet cost, quality and programme targets
• Responsibility for production for a BSR Gateway 2 submission
• Work closely with Land, Commercial and Construction teams to ensure buildability and cost effectiveness
• Support due diligence processes and manage technical risk
• Set, monitor and control design-related budgets
• Ensure compliance with H&S, building regulations and governance requirements

Candidate Experience:

• Degree-qualified in a relevant discipline (design or construction related)
• Professionally qualified or working towards (CIOB, RIBA or similar)
• Proven experience in a design or technical management role within residential construction
• Strong technical, commercial and project coordination skills
• Experienced people manager with the ability to lead, motivate and develop teams
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
• Strong IT skills including MS Office and MS Project or Asta
• Sound understanding of contract management and risk control
