We are currently seeking a compassionate, skilled, and motivated Band 5 Nurse to join our Dermatology team. This is an exciting opportunity for a nurse looking to develop their expertise in skin anatomy and contribute to the care of patients with various skin conditions.

The role involves working across Trust sites, including York, Malton, Selby, and Scarborough, with plans to expand to Bridlington. The applicant must be willing to travel as required.

The position is based at York Hospital, with travel to Malton and Scarborough expected.

• Interviews will be held in person ONLY at the hospital site; remote interviews are not available.
• NMC PIN validity will be checked before shortlisting (applicable to registered roles). Inaccurate PIN details will result in non-progression.

Responsibilities

The Dermatology management team aims to ensure nursing services support high standards of patient care. Responsibilities include:

• Deliver UVA/UVB phototherapy per unit policies.
• Assess and review patient conditions, adjusting treatments within protocols independently.
• Perform contact allergy testing as per policy.
• Administer cryotherapy treatments.
• Deliver photodynamic therapy (PDT).
• Provide dermatological education to patients, carers, and families.
• Remove sutures.
• Assist in minor operations in theatre.
• Support consultant dermatologists during outpatient clinics.
• Maintain accurate care records.
• Manage wounds, including complex cases and compression bandaging.
• Implement and update care plans.
• Liaise with nursing and multidisciplinary teams.
• Stay informed on current nursing practices and research.
• Contribute to team learning and development.
• Continuously develop educational, research, clinical, and leadership skills.
