Job summary

Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board is seeking a Deputy Ward Manager for Tegid Ward, Ysbyty Gwynedd, Bangor. You will lead a busy 30-bed general surgery ward and support the ward manager in their absence, with a focus on maintaining high clinical standards.

You will work with a proactive nursing team, applying excellent communication and leadership skills while supporting staff appraisals, sickness management and ongoing professional development. Welsh language ability is desirable.

Qualifications

  • RGN with experience at band 5 level.
  • NMC registered with experience in surgical circumcision.
  • Good clinical knowledge of acute settings.
  • Clear governance issues and patient safety awareness.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage ward activities to ensure quality patient care.
  • Provide support with staff appraisals, sickness absence and training.
  • Maintain high clinical standards and effective communication with staff and patients.
  • Implement new nursing initiatives and remain responsive to change.

An exciting, developmental opportunity has arisen for a Deputy Ward Manager to join Tegid Ward in Ysbyty Gwynedd, Bangor, Gwynedd, North Wales.


Main duties of the job

Tegid Ward is a busy 30 bedded ward which specialises in General surgery. The nursing team is proactive and innovative with a wealth of knowledge in this specialised field.


We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our busy and dynamic nursing team. This is a demanding role that requires commitment and a positive leadership approach towards change. You will have excellent communication skills and high clinical standards with a passion to make a difference for patients and staff alike. Managing and controlling the activities of the ward in an effective and efficient manner.


All applicants are expected to keep with new initiatives and interventions within nursing care. The Deputy Ward Manager is expected to continue the running of the ward in the absence of the ward manager. Providing support with staff appraisals, sickness and training support.


The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
