Job summary

Greater Manchester Mental Health (GMMH) Foundation Trust is offering a full-time Deputy Ward Manager role on the Trafford Irwell ward within our Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). You will provide clinical and managerial leadership, supporting the Ward Manager to deliver high-quality, trauma-informed care in a modern, safe environment.

You will supervise junior staff and students, oversee care planning, and drive quality improvements while maintaining strict adherence to the Mental Health

Qualifications

• NMC Registered
• 2 years post-qualification experience
• Strong leadership skills
• Experience in a PICU or acute mental health setting
• Supervision of junior staff and students
• Knowledge of the Mental Health Act
• Audit and quality-improvement awareness
• ILS trained (where applicable)

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical and managerial leadership to the ward team
• Assist Ward Manager in running the ward and coordinating care
• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate care for service users
• Support and supervise junior staff and students
• Lead on quality improvements and staff wellbeing
• Provide preceptorship for newly qualified staff
• Act as role model with high standards of care and professional behaviour
• Manage operational duties and act as bleep holder when required

• You will assist the Ward Manager in providing Leadership and Operational Management to the Ward ensuring the provision of quality nursing care to all service users on the ward/department.
• The post holder will assess, plan and implement care, and provide specialist nursing advice.
• You will provide clinical and managerial leadership and supervision to junior staff.
• Support the Ward Manager in the clinical and operational running of the ward
• Support and supervise junior staff and students
• Implement change on the ward to improve the quality of patient care and staff wellbeing
• Provide preceptorship for newly qualified staff
• To act as a role model within the team continually promoting a highstandard of care for all patients admitted to the ward, which iseffective and responsive to the needs of service users.
• Act as bleep holder for the unit as required.
  NMC Registered
• 2 years post qualification experience
• Strong leadership skills, Experience working in a PICU or acute mental health settings
• Supervision of junior staff
• Evidence of supervising students, Sound knowledge of the Mental Health Act
• Effective leadership, appropriate delegation and strong decision-making skills
• Participation in Quality Improvements, Planning off-duty
