Job summary

Priory Hospital Dewsbury is seeking a Deputy Ward Manager to join the Jubilee Ward. This full-time role involves supporting the Ward Manager and multidisciplinary teams to drive high standards of care and patient outcomes.

You will be responsible for day-to-day management, staff development, and ensuring a safe therapeutic environment for male patients with complex mental health needs. Prior RMN qualification and supervisory experience are essential.

Qualifications

• Active Nursing Registration with the Nursing Midwifery Council and RMN qualification.
• Trained Assessor or Supervisor accreditation is desirable.
• Clinical supervision experience is essential; training is a plus.
• Evidence of ongoing professional development and leadership intent.
• Good computer skills and familiarity with standard software.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support the Ward Manager in daily ward operations and multidisciplinary teamwork.
• Drive high standards of clinical care and a positive patient experience on the Jubilee Ward.
• Support staff development, mentoring, and supervision to maintain service quality.
• Contribute to revalidation and continued professional development planning.
• Ensure safe, effective delivery of care and accurate documentation.

This role is not suitable for newly qualified nurses or preceptorship nurses.

Priory Hospital Dewsbury is looking to recruit a Deputy Ward Manager to join the team on the Jubilee Ward. This is a full time position of 40 hours per week.

Based in the residential area of Earlsheaton, West Yorkshire, Priory Hospital Dewsbury provides level 2 rehabilitation services divided into two wards. Care is for male patients who have mental health disorders and we also offer neuropsychiatry support, support for older people and dementia, community-focused rehabilitation, and support for severe and enduring mental health.

Although Dewsbury is not a 24/7 acute hospital, we are well-placed to provide support to acute patients within our dementia services, for those who require an alternative setting to an acute psychiatric ward. Admissions can also take place due to other placement breakdowns (either from their home or other care environment), or from prison settings.
