How you can make your mark

Reporting to the North-West Project Manager, the Deputy Project Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the vessels and land-based infrastructure supporting the works.

Main Tasks

  • To be proactive and self-supportive, making sure the vessels are always operational and that constant communication is maintained with vessel crews, harbour authorities and the Project Manager.
  • Implementing and managing the health, safety, and environmental plans for projects.
  • Managing logistics, including obtaining vessel stores and delivering them as needed.
  • Supervising and coordinating on-site project preparations, mobilization, installation, and demobilization.
  • Ensuring that approved work methods are executed efficiently and within budget.
  • Providing daily progress reports and maintaining good relationships with client representatives and authorities.
  • Leading and motivating small teams for project execution.
  • Managing small maintenance projects which may require travel away from home for short periods (1-2 weeks).

Required Knowledge and Experience

  • Preferably 5+ years of experience in Marine Operations or vessel management, dredging or mechanical engineering experience is beneficial.
  • Experience in relevant disciplines and project management.
  • Ability to lead and motivate small teams.
  • Good command of English (written and spoken).
  • Driving licence.
  • Resides within commuting distance of Bootle, Liverpool.
  • Willingness to work weekends and/or short periods away from home when required.
  • SMSTS/SSSTS

Your Work Schedule:

  • Location: Bootle, Liverpool, UK
  • Monday to Friday, with on-call weekend days alternating with the PM
  • 8 am – 5 pm with a 1-hour lunch break, but may flex depending on operations and work planning with the operations team
  • Occasionally, for projects, work away 7 days per week. When on projects, the working hours will be 7 am – 6 pm with a 1-hour lunch break
  • Time in lieu of days worked in addition to a 5-day week or overtime hours
  • From time to time (bi-Monthly), we undertake maintenance projects outside of Liverpool that would require work away from home for short periods of time, where in you will be responsible for managing the works as our key point of contact.
  • Works vary from dredging and ploughing harbours to ensure shipping traffic have safe navigation depths to supplying aggregates to our onshore partners as part of the sand supply business.
