Your new company
Hays Accountancy and Finance are recruiting and working in partnership with a large public sector organisation for the appointment of a Deputy Principal Accountant offering a competitive market-leading salary and public benefits. This role will act as an integral member of the Department for Economy within the Northern Ireland Civil Service.


Your new role

  1. Working within a team of Chartered Accountants consisting of a Grade 7, 3 Deputy Principal, 2 Staff Officers and 1 EO1 Accountants to provide a Financial Governance advisory / challenge function for the Department.
  2. Assist with a project to re-locate and operate an accountancy function from a 3rd party back into the Department.
  3. Assist with losses, pay remits and other ad hoc governance issues that arise.
  4. Leading project H&W to get records returned to the accountancy function in the Civil Service - you will be managing the process of this and embedding this into the finance team.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Applicants must be fully qualified accountants, having successfully completed the professional examinations, and be a full Member of one of the following bodies:
  • Chartered Accountants Ireland;
  • The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Scotland;
  • The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales;
  • The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants;
  • The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants;
  • The Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy;
  • The Institute of Certified Public Accountants in Ireland.

AND must have one year's experience gained in the last five years in a finance-related environment.
