Job Description:

The Week Junior is a multi-award-winning 32-page weekly news magazine for 8-to-14-year-olds. It nurtures children’s natural curiosity and helps them make sense of the world. Its 50-page sister title, The Week Junior Science+Nature, is published every four weeks and explores topics related to STEM, animals, and the environment.

What you'll be doing:

• Reporting to the Picture Editor, sourcing images for print, digital, and social media.
• Illustrating serious news events sensitively, uncovering engaging images of animals, and creatively depicting scientific concepts.
• Contributing to projects like brand extensions and deputising for the picture editor, overseeing freelance staff.

Experience that will put you ahead:

• Experience in editorial print publications with a track record in selecting appropriate visuals across diverse subjects.
• Knowledge of image rights and copyright laws.
• Extensive familiarity with image agencies, press organizations, and sourcing unique images.
• A visual/creative mindset with an understanding of young audiences’ interests.
• Experience in budget management and administration.

This is a hybrid role based in our London office, working three days in-office and two remotely.
