This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in shaping and setting the news agenda read by millions around the world every day. We are looking for an experienced, versatile journalist and editor who can write stories when required but also cover on the news desk.
We’re looking for fresh ideas and new perspectives from people from a wide range of backgrounds, and we want you to tell us the stories you believe are important from our many communities so we can continue to diversify our content.
This is a fixed term contract role, initially for 4 months starting as soon as possible.

What will the role involve?
You will direct coverage on major breaking news stories both domestic and foreign, ensuring the Mirror stays a step ahead of our rivals. You will sub edit and manage copy to ensure it is accurate and attention grabbing. You will also find, write and develop stories that will appeal to our UK and global audiences.
You are able to guide and support other journalists in your team while simultaneously ensuring all copy is legally sound and meets IPSO guidelines and the Mirror’s standards. This position will involve weekend and shift working, so a flexible approach is required.

You have first rate editing, writing and subbing skills, relish the test of working under pressure and to tight deadlines. You’re social media savvy with current SEO knowledge and a bursting book of industry contacts. You have an excellent eye for detail and can provide reporters in your team with guidance and encouragement.
