Job description

Job Title: Deputy Home Manager

Southlands School is an Ofsted-registered co-education specialist day and residential school with a registered children’s home. We provide education and care, supported by our multi-disciplinary clinical team, for children and young people aged 7-19 years who have a primary diagnosis of Autism or whose profile of need can be successfully supported by autism specialist strategies.

We are recruiting an experienced Deputy Home Manager to deputise in the absence of the Registered Manager and support staff in meeting the needs of the children and young people.

Person Specification:

• Secondary education with good literacy and numeracy skills
• NVQ Level 3 in caring for Children and Young People (or equivalent)
• Working towards NVQ Level 4
• Awareness of Equal Opportunities/ADP issues
• Knowledge of the Children Act and relevant legislation
• Team building and supervision skills
• Effective team management and communication skills
• Understanding of BESD children and managing challenging behaviour
• Knowledge of ‘Every Child Matters’ framework
• Excellent organisational skills
• Ability to motivate and enthuse staff
