Job summary

CareTech is seeking a Deputy Manager at Tower View to support the home manager and supervise staff. The role balances 21 hours of administration with 21 hours of direct shift work with young people.

You will mentor Senior Support Workers and contribute to high-quality care, reporting, and development. A Level 3/4 qualification and a UK driving licence are required; training is provided for the electronic care recording system.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years in a similar role within children's residential.
• Level 3/4 qualification in Children's Residential / Health & Social Care.
• UK driving licence is essential.
• Experience supervising a team of support workers.
• Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
• Comfort with electronic care recording systems; training provided.

Responsibilities

Job description

As a deputy manager you will support the home manager in ensuring the smooth running of the service and its staff. Your duties will include 21 hours of home administration/office work and 21 hours on shift directly supporting the young people and staff.

• Supervise and mentor Senior Support Workers and their teams
• Ensure our children receive the highest level of support
• Support home manager with updates and reports, responsible in the Home Managers absence
• Promote individuality NOT a "one size fits all" approach, for residents and staff
• Monitoring of staff to provide development & training where required
• Promoting a warm, homely environment and ensuring all staff adopt this approach
• Build strong, meaningful relationships and provide emotional support for residents and staff alike
• Plan and join fun activities like trips to the park, popcorn & movie nights or creative projects
• New staff must be comfortable using an electronic care recording system on a daily basis to document, monitor, and update children and young people's records accurately. Experience with Clearcare is an advantage, but not essential, as full training will be provided. However, all staff are expected to confidently use digital systems as part of their day-to-day role. A Little About This Home Tower View is a large detached property on the edge of a village. We aim to ensure that our house reflects that of a family home where young people feel safe, relaxed and cared for in a non-institutionalised setting. Our young people do have emotional and behavioural difficulties and the staff work very hard to keep them active to ensure their minds are occupied through the local youth groups, clubs and what the local surroundings have on offer. Tower View benefits from several communal areas so young people are able to enjoy doing activities within the home with each other, or alone if they prefer. The young people are regularly consulted on the home's development, and so the communal areas are largely influenced by the comments and requests they make. Staff encourage the young people to enjoy a full and active life; and achieve their personal and academic goals. Staff work with young people to research and access the clubs and groups within the community; and promote trying new things so the young people broaden their interests and experiences.
• You'll have a minimum of 2 years in a similar role within children's residential
• Level 3 or 4 qualification in Children's Residential / Heath & Social Care - Children and Young People
• Manual UK driving licence is essential
• Experience of supervising a team of support workers
• Reporting skills for home manager and SMT
• Excellent communication skills both verbally and written
• Ability to cover shifts flexibly
