Job summary

Baston House School in Bromley, Kent, is seeking an experienced Deputy Headteacher to lead our Primary provision for pupils aged 5–11 with complex needs. You will work with the Headteacher and the senior team to shape teaching, learning, behaviour and safeguarding, while developing staff and ensuring excellent pupil outcomes.

This is a full-time, permanent post starting January 2027, with a salary up to £65,000 and term-time options. UK applicants only.

Qualifications

• QTS with significant SEND and complex needs experience.
• Leadership experience in a school or specialist setting.
• Strong track record working with primary-aged pupils.
• Commitment to safeguarding and pupil welfare.
• Proven ability to coach and develop staff.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategic and operational leadership for primary provision.
• Support the Headteacher in delivering vision and priorities.
• Maintain ambitious expectations for teaching and pupil progress.
• Lead behaviour management and safeguarding practices.
• Monitor pupil progress and drive targeted improvements.
• Coordinate support with education, therapy and pastoral teams.
• Lead admissions, transitions and staff appraisals.
• Ensure compliance with SEND legislation and policies.
• Build strong relationships with families and external professionals.
