Job description

Deputy Head Teacher
Salary: £71,614 - £78,000 + Excellent Benefits
Location: Surrey

At our specialist day school in Surrey, we understand that progress doesn’t always come in big leaps. Sometimes, just sitting through a lesson is a major achievement – and we celebrate those moments. We call them huge, small victories. As our new Deputy Head Teacher, you’ll play a vital role in creating and recognising these moments, helping children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and a range of additional challenges achieve their own version of success.

What You’ll Be Doing

Working closely with the Head Teacher, you’ll shape the school’s vision and lead the team to deliver outstanding education and support. You’ll build strong relationships, foster a positive learning environment, and ensure every child leaves with pride in what they’ve accomplished.

This is a challenging role – but with the right support behind you and a shared commitment to improving lives, it’s incredibly rewarding. You’ll be backed by a skilled leadership team, a range of dedicated specialists, and a well-resourced, purpose-built school setting.

Who We’re Looking For

We’re looking for an experienced and passionate leader who brings out the best in people – both staff and students. Someone who believes in the power of education to change lives and is driven by the small wins that make a big difference. You will need:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • At least two years of leadership and management experience
  • A passion for improving teaching and learning standards
  • An understanding of positive behaviour strategies
  • Strong coaching and interpersonal skills to support and develop your team

Why Join Us?

We’re proud to offer one of the best salary and benefits packages in the education sector. When you join us, you’ll be part of a supportive, forward-thinking school that offers:

  • Comprehensive induction and ongoing training
  • Full school holidays so you can rest and recharge
  • Career progression – many of our Head Teachers started as Deputies
  • Flexible benefits including enhanced life insurance options
  • Pension schemes, including access to the Teachers’ Pension Scheme
  • Health and wellbeing support, including medical cover
  • High-street discounts and a £1,000 recommend-a-friend bonus
  • Beautiful, well-equipped school environments

A Place Where You Can Be Yourself

Our students come from diverse backgrounds, and so do we. We’re proud to be an inclusive employer, creating a team that reflects the communities we serve and helps our young people feel seen, heard, and supported.

Ready to Make a Difference?

If you’re looking for a meaningful leadership role where you’ll help shape futures, celebrate small steps, and build something to be proud of – we’d love to hear from you.
