Keys Education is seeking a Deputy Headteacher for New Ways School in Birmingham. The role supports the Headteacher in leadership, behaviour, and pastoral care within a trauma-informed environment.

The school serves 11-19 year olds with SEND needs, including Autism, across two sites. Applicants should have QTS/QTLS and proven leadership in a complex educational setting, with a focus on safeguarding and Ofsted readiness.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of safeguarding, SEND, and trauma-informed practice; Ofsted framework.

Deputy Headteacher - New Ways School, 300 Redhill Road, Kings Norton, Birmingham, B38 9EL

Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 | Full Time (40 hours/week)

Purpose of the Role

The Deputy Headteacher supports the Headteacher in providing effective leadership and management of the school.

The role is pivotal in driving high standards of teaching, learning, behaviour, and pastoral care in a trauma-informed, therapeutic environment.

At New Ways School

New Ways is an Outstanding Independent SEN School with two sites. Our KS3 students attend our school site in South Birmingham (B38), and our KS4 KS5 students attend our college site in North Worcestershire (B60). New Ways caters for 11-19 year olds who have SEND needs relating mainly to Autism.

We offer an environment that is safe and low sensory alongside an ambitious curriculum which includes a suite of GCSE's and enrichment opportunities to ensure students achieve the very best outcomes possible and are fully prepared for their transition in to Further education, employment, training and adulthood.

• Model and uphold the highest standards of professional conduct and integrity as set out in the Staff Code of Conduct
• Promote fundamental British values and ensure these are embedded in school life and practice
• Foster a positive, collaborative, and reflective professional culture focused on continuous improvement
• Lead by example in maintaining attendance, punctuality, and professional standards.

Requirements

• QTS/QTLS is a requirement
• Proven leadership experience in a special school or complex educational setting
• Strong knowledge of the Ofsted inspection framework, safeguarding, SEND, and trauma-informed practice
• Ability to lead teams, motivate staff, and model professional conduct as per the Staff Code of Conduct
• Excellent interpersonal skills with staff, pupils, parents, and external partners
