Job summary

ISP Battle School in Battle, East Sussex seeks an inspirational Deputy Headteacher to lead safeguarding, behaviour and teaching across Key Stages 3 and 4 for a school supporting SEMH, SEND and cognition needs.

The Deputy Headteacher will provide strategic leadership, develop the curriculum and work with staff, pupils, families and external professionals to secure excellent outcomes while upholding the school's values and ethos. DBS check required.

Qualifications

• QTS with experience in SEN/D.
• Experience delivering a high-quality curriculum with SEND focus.
• Experience leading and managing teams in a compassionate, therapeutic environment.
• Excellent communication and collaboration with staff, pupils and families.

• Employee Discount Scheme About Our School Situated in the lovely setting of Glengorse Estate in Battle, East Sussex, ISP School provides specialist education for 7-18-year-olds with social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH), communication and interaction needs, and cognition and learning needs.

Our mission is to provide each child with a diverse and appropriate education in a safe, supportive environment that promotes self-discipline and engagement, inspires learning and encourages aspiration and achievement.

We are looking for an inspirational qualified teacher who has experience working with vulnerable children and is prepared to teach or cover lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 as and when required.

Role Responsibilities We are seeking a caring, forward-thinking leader to join our team as Deputy Headteacher.

In this role, you will:

• Champion a strong safeguarding culture by leading safeguarding practice, supporting vulnerable pupils and families and ensuring staff understand and fulfil their safeguarding responsibilities in line with statutory requirements
• Provide strategic leadership for behaviour and attendance, using data-driven approaches to monitor trends, reduce persistent absence, promote positive behaviour and ensure pupils are able to access and benefit from learning
• Ensure high-quality teaching and learning across the school, with a focus on inclusion and differentiated instruction for SEND students
• Assess, monitor, record and report on the learning needs, progress and achievements of pupils
• Participate in arrangements for preparing pupils for external examinations
• Contribute to whole-school organisation, strategy and curriculum development
• Contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of the school's policies, practices and procedures to support the school's values and vision
• Work with others on curriculum and pupil development to secure co-ordinated outcomes
• Use your expertise to promote a therapeutic approach to behaviour and emotional wellbeing
• Collaborate with staff, parents and external professionals to ensure the best outcomes for pupils
• Manage and support staff teams, fostering a culture of cooperation, flexibility and continuous improvement
• Work closely with other leaders within the Polaris Community to share good practice and ensure alignment with our ethos Requirements
• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with experience in SEND
• Experience of delivering a high-quality curriculum with a focus on supporting young people with SEND
• Experience of leading and managing teams within a compassionate, therapeutic environment
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work inclusively with staff, pupils and families
• A proactive and adaptable attitude, with the ability to establish and develop systems and processes aligned with the school's values and ethos
• Previous senior or middle leadership experience What We Offer
