We are looking for a dedicated Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our fabulous team at Alma Veterinary Hospital as Deputy Head Nurse. We are seeking a hands on RVN who is competent in all aspects of nursing who strives to provide gold standard care to both our patients and clients. The applicant must have a forward-thinking vision to assist and support our Head Nurse with the leadership of the nursing team. The applicant must strive to provide the best of care options for our patient and clients and be driven to help the team work towards the vision of providing top standard first opinion care. Ideally applicants will have some leadership experience and have a proven background of helping develop a dynamic and efficient working environment.

Alma Veterinary Hospital is located in the royal town of Windsor, with many tourist attractions such as Windsor Castle, Lego Land and Thorpe Park nearby. Windsor is an affluent town surrounded by beautiful countryside along the Thames path and Windsor Great Park. There are many restaurants, shop and cafes in the town, all of which are walking distance from the practice. Windsor has excellent transport links into London Paddington and London Waterloo. We are approximately 15 mins from Heathrow, 45 mins from Gatwick and are 5 mins from the M4 and M25, making travelling in all directions very easy.

Alma Veterinary Hospital is a fully equipped first opinion practice seeing a wide range of surgical and medical cases. We have 4 consultation rooms, separate cat and dog waiting rooms and wards. As well as all the usual facilities of a first opinion practice, we have a dedicated dental suite, an imaging room and a full in-house laboratory. Our hospital is very well equipped with a Karl Storz laparotomy tower, radiography, ultrasound, dental radiography, full in-house laboratory, a Tonopen, endoscopy, bronchoscopy, orthopaedic equipment, ECG, Capnography and much more. We are proud to be the only practice within a 15-mile radius able to offer laparoscopic surgery to our patients.

We have a wonderful team of 7 Veterinary Surgeons and 10 nurses. Our nursing team consists of 9 RVN's and 1 student and 2 nursing assistance. In addition, we have 7 support staff including our Practice Manager, Reception and Admin teams. Many of the team at Alma have been at the practice for many years. Working at Alma is like being part of a caring family, where we all work together to support each other. Colleague welfare is of upmost importance to us all. Providing a high standard of client and patient care is at the forefront of everything we do, and we are hopeful to find a candidate that fits within our team values and ethos.

Working pattern

We are open to flexible working options which may include part-time or full time up to 38hrs/week. Our current RVNs cover a range of shifts varying between the hours of 07:30-19:30, and 1:5 Saturday mornings. Our team also covers an average of 1 night shift per week to cover the care of our inpatients - this is a sleeping shift with inpatient checks throughout the night, with the following day off.
