Job summary

Berkhamsted Schools Group is seeking an enthusiastic, highly organised Deputy Head who will work closely with the Headteacher and the Senior Management Team to lead day-to-day operations and school development.

The successful candidate will provide strategic oversight of pastoral care, safeguarding, pupil development and key school operations, while building strong relationships and guiding teams across the school to support academic progress, wellbeing and character development.

Qualifications

• Experience in school or senior leadership (pastoral focus preferred).
• Strong communication and organisational skills with ability to build positive relationships.
• Commitment to boys' education, adolescent wellbeing and safeguarding best practice.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic oversight of pastoral care, behaviour, safeguarding, pupil development and key school operations.
• Lead day-to-day leadership in collaboration with the Headteacher and Senior Management Team.
• Support strategic planning and decision making, inspiring teams across the school.

Job description

Berkhamsted Schools Group is seeking an enthusiastic, highly organised and proactive Deputy Head. Working closely with the Headteacher, and wider Senior Management Team. Supported by an Assistant Head the post-holder will play a key role in the day-to-day leadership and effective operation of the School, providing strategic oversight of pastoral care, behaviour, safeguarding, pupil development and key school operations.

The successful candidate will bring strong leadership, communication and organisational skills, with the ability to build positive relationships, make sound decisions and lead effectively through others. A thorough understanding of boys' education, adolescent wellbeing and pastoral best practice is essential, alongside the confidence to manage complex situations and work collaboratively across teams.
